Depends on the geysers. The cheaper and older geysers' elements can break due to thermal shock this is the changes in temperature due the cooling and heating of the element. For newer geysers or geysers that is very well insulated this should not be a problem. Then again if your geyser is well insulated switching it off during the day doesn't let you gain anything because if the water stays warm during the day the element will only be switch on a few times a day. People claiming that they are saving R100's is one exagerating and two probably saving electricity because they concisely using less warm water. Best way to save NEVER USE YOUR WARM WATER TAP UNNECCESARILY not even to get that first bit of cold water and keep shower short or baths shallow.Report it!
