And, would you believe, the Duvalier son is still living the high life in Paris, France. Aparently he gave $5 million - a fraction of what he stole from his people. If the Duvaliers hadn't drain the country it might have had the resources to build better buildings and infrastructure.Report it!

People’s response to Haiti earthquake

The earthquake that hit Haiti on January 12th just 10 miles from Port-au-Prince is one of the deadliest earthquakes on record. The earthquake is said to already have claimed the lives of more than 100,000 people. It is a sad moment for a sad country. Tens of thousands of Haitians were killed during the 29-year long brutal rule of the Duvaliers between 1957 and 1986 and the country continues to suffer from political and social problems. Perhaps it is good that the United States had sent in thousands of troops to attempt to establish stability.

The response to the earthquake victims by people from all over the world has been tremendous. Millions contributed to charity organizations via web sites, cell phones and twitter. At the same time, as per usual, a lot of fraudulents set up shop to capitalize on the situation. Huffington Post listed all the proper places at How You Can Help Haiti.
